Challenge yourself.
All mankind is divided into three classes: those that are immovable, those that are movable, and those who move. -- Benjamin Franklin
1. You have a project due next week. You... Map out a plan and get started. Decide that you will start the project over the weekend. Put it off until the last minute, and find yourself crying in the corner of the library hours before it is due.
2. A friend asks you to go skiing. You’ve never done anything like that before so you... Decide not to go. You’d probably come back in several pieces. Agree to go, but decide never to venture off the bunny slopes. Go along! You know you’ll be great – you’ll conquer the black diamond slopes in no time.
3. You have a favorite store in the mall, where 99% of your wardrobe comes from. One day, you head to the entrance of the store, only to realize that it has morphed into “Big Bill’s Bargain Outlet.” You... Hold out hope for an online store, but then resign your fate to inferior mall stores. Canvas a 100-mile radius in search of another store location. Decide that your wardrobe needs a facelift and go to a different store.
4. Your class is broken into teams for a final project. You... Groan, because you know that you’ll end up doing all of the work. Suggest that the team meets and divides up responsibilities. Like to work by yourself, but know that you’ll have a good team.
5. You are elected president of a club. Once in command you... Run the club with an iron fist, and acquire the flattering nickname "Stalin." Feel overwhelmed with work at first, but then you delegate some responsibilities and make up a schedule. Have lots of good ideas, except it seems like the club is all talk and no action.
6. As president of the Honor Society, you are sent to a leadership conference where a presenter talks about individual leadership styles. You... Stick the handouts in your folder, and wonder what’s for lunch. Take notes, because you might be able to use the information some day. Have a realization about your own leadership style, and decide to make some changes so that you’ll be a better club president.
7. You are looking at study abroad information on the Internet and you wonder what the abbreviation "EC" means. You... Write it down on a piece of scrap paper. You’ll look it up eventually. Immediately type it into an online dictionary and discover that it means European Community. Don’t need to look it up. It stands for Ecuador, right?
8. You have a job interview tomorrow. You... Are self-confident and prepared to make a good impression. Have nightmares about all that can go wrong, but you pull yourself together in time for the interview. Get really nervous and don’t show up.
9. You are walking to class when you realize that you forgot to do your assignment. You decide to... Get into class and copy the assignment from the person next to you. Quickly throw something together. Maybe you’ll get partial credit. Skip class because you are “sick”. You’ll turn in the assignment later.
10. You are taking a walk when a car slows down and the driver asks you how to get to the grocery store. You... Do your best to give directions, even though the guy still looks confused. Continue walking. You don’t talk to strange people in cars. You tell him where to go, and even jot the directions down on a scrap of paper.
11. You are playing volleyball in a local city league. You... Are determined to win at all costs. Try to improve your own game as well as win as a team. Don’t really care who wins.
